Fred, Black and Sparkly

| | Comments (1)
This is Fred. Fred started off life as an ordinary pumpkin. Orange, full, and flat on one side. Through a series of procedures, each more horrible than the last, he has become something else - something evil. Fred is now a force of darkness, seeking dominion over anyone or anything that he can bring under his evil will. His two minions, Black and Sparkly, were only the first to come under his sway. The first of many...... Happy Hallowe'en, everyone! (Also seen in Flickr )

Jean’s Niteclub

I found this niteclub at Queen and Broadview.  I don't know if it's still open, but I love the decayed look of the exterior, especially in black and white

Outside the Opera House

Shot outside the stage door at The Opera House. Extra seating for those VIP guests, maybe? Or just somewhere to sit and have a smoke between sets, more likely.

Robertson’s Chocolates

I wonder if they still make chocolates there, or if they've shut down.  The sign looks really interesting, as it weathers on the exposed brick.

Shopping!

Apparently, someone loves shopping on Queen West.

Now Hiring

No - I don't know if he applied for the job or not. We were all waiting at Queen and John for a streetcar, and I got to try taking a bunch of pictures in black and white. See it on Flickr.

I love ironic signage. This old sign is at Queen Ave West and John St. I wonder if the optometrist is still there. See it on Flickr.

Advertising Archeology

It's cool when you find an old mural or sign from the past. Found this one on Broadview, north of Dundas. I wonder how long ago the sign was hidden. From the looks of the paint, it's been out of sight for quite a while. See it on Flickr.

Coffee Time at Dundas and Broadview

Mmmmm - coffee! I love the look of this building. The exterior is covered with stencilled coffee beans, but I think they look like kisses. Also seen at Flickr

Roaring Lion I

Found this wonderful carving on a building at Queen and Carlaw. I love the detail, and the expression. Why can't more buildings have details like this on their exteriors? Also seen at Flickr

Waiting at Dangerous Dan’s

Dangerous Dan's is a great burger place at Queen and Broadview. They make some of the most amazing burgers in the city. The decor is a little ... eclectic, but the food is awesome. Also seen at Flickr

City and Fog

It was a very foggy day, and I saw the city as I drove home with my kids. I had to run up to the balcony to get this shot. I love the view and I love this city. Also seen at Flickr

Riding the Streetcar

Lively conversation on the TTC is a rarity.  This young man spent the trip from Yonge St to Broadview talking animatedly with his friend across the car.
